Kids & Rock Climbing

Kids and rock climbing are a natural fit. Synnott Mountain Guides has several courses suitable for children. Photo: Ropes at the North End of Cathedral Ledge, New Hampshire.

We don’t have a Youth Overnight Rock Climbing Camp scheduled for 2017, but please contact us to inquire about custom options. Alternately, you can consider our Family Rock Climbing or Private Rock Climbing options.

Looking for a fun, challenging, and rewarding summer camp for kids aged 11-16? Come join our Youth Overnight Rock Climbing Camp!

This camp is led by Mark Synnott, a member of The North Face Climbing Team and an IFMGA/AMGA certified guide with 30 years of climbing experience. Your children will learn how to rock climb and rappel, and to master skills like maximizing balance, belaying, and route-finding — all while building self-esteem, self-confidence, and great friendships.

Camp will include three nights of camping at the Fourth Iron Campground, which is located at the confluence of the Sawyer and Saco Rivers in Crawford Notch, New Hampshire. In camp, the children will learn important outdoor skills like meal planning and preparation, use of camp stoves, fire-building, fishing, map and compass reading, navigation, and many other outdoor skills. Parents will notice that enhanced problem-solving, social adaptability, and teamwork skills all come in the package…but the kids will be too busy climbing and camping outdoors to notice those other benefits!
